Giant Tickets - Royal Court Theatre

“I just wanted to put you bang in the picture. Apprise you of the difficulties. Because, if you hadn't noticed, he’s a human fucking boobytrap. And now, guess what, surprise surprise, boom!”

A world-famous and much-loved children’s author is under threat. A battle of wills ensues in the wake of a scandal. And one last chance to make amends…

It’s the summer of 1983, Roald Dahl's book, The Witches is about to hit the shelves, and the author is making last-minute edits. But public outcry at his recent, explicitly antisemitic comments in a published article shows no sign of calming down.

At his family home across a single afternoon, and shaken by an explosive, unexpected confrontation, Dahl must choose: offer a public apology or risk his reputation and name.

Giant is a play inspired by real events, Mark Rosenblatt’s debut play at the Royal Court Theatre uses dark humour to explore the fine line between considered opinion and dangerous rhetoric.

Directed by Nicholas Hytner and starring Tony and Golden Globe-winner John Lithgow, alongside Olivier Award-winner Elliot Levey, Giant offers a complicated new portrait of a fiendishly charismatic literary icon.

Originally developed along with the London Theatre Company, Giant has been generously supported by a lead gift from Charles Holloway.

Royal Court Theatre Seating Plan

The Royal Court Theatre is a small off-West End venue located on Sloane Square with a capacity of 389 seats and has three levels compromising of the larger Jerwood Theatre Downstairs and the slightly more intimate Jerwood Theatre Upstairs. There is flexible seating to suit each production however, as it is a small venue, there are generally very good views of the stage throughout the auditorium.

The best seats are in the Stalls which have a decent rake and offer great views of the stage, although the intimate auditorium allows for close-up views wherever you are sat. The Circle is also a great place to sit for a clear overall view of the stage from an elevated position.

Patrons on a budget or just looking to book cheap tickets to Giant can find good value either in the Balcony on the second floor, or the Slips in the Circle where tickets are moderately priced and offer a clear view of the stage
